Introducing our First Medium Range Lantern with Integrated AIS Monitoring

Somerville, Victoria, Australia – July 2017 — Sealite introduced our first mid-range lantern with a fully integrated AIS system inside the lanterns body.

Sealite’s SL-155 series are high intensity 6-13NM medium range marine lanterns. The compact single tier lantern features extremely low power consumption, minimal maintenance and now comes available in 2.5, 5 or 10 degree vertical distributions with a class-leading integrated Type 1 or Type 3 AIS.

When fitted, the AIS is encapsulated within the body of the SL-155 so no additional mounting or cables are required for a separate AIS unit. Supporting AIS Message 6 and Message 21, users can receive crucial information such as operation status and positioning in accurate real-time messages.

With the physical lantern size unchanged, the SL-155 offers significant advantages over other assemblies. The all in one unit is significantly easier and cheaper to install than other AIS installations and its small form size is a cost effective alternative to larger RACONs, commonly used for electronic marking of navigational hazards.
